Step 1: Preparing the Nails
- Disinfect Your Hands
Start by disinfecting both your own hands and your client’s to ensure hygiene during the treatment.
- Care for Your Cuticles
Use a cuticle pusher to gently push back the cuticles. If you have the proper knowledge, perform an E-manicure. Remove excess cuticles with cuticle nippers or cuticle scissors for a neat finish.
- File the Nails into Shape
File the nails into the desired shape using a 180-grit file. Make sure the edges are even and the shape is smooth.
- Matting the nail plate
Lightly file the nails with a 240-grit file to remove the natural shine from the nail surface. This ensures better adhesion. File carefully so as not to damage the nail plate.
- Remove dust particles
Use a dust brush dipped in 70% alcohol to clean the nail and remove the dust.
- Degreasing and Cleaning
Thoroughly clean the nail surface with 100% pure acetone to remove any oil from the nail plate.
Step 2: Apply Ultra Bond
- Apply Ultra Bond
Apply a thin layer of The Gel Expert Ultra Bonding to the nail plate. This provides extra adhesion between the natural nail andBLISS™. Let it air dry for 30 seconds.
Step 3: Apply the Base Coat
- Applying Rubberbase
Apply a thin, even layer of the The Gel Expert Rubberbase. Rubberbase provides an extra strengthening layer underneath the Gelpolish.
- Curing
Cure the product:
60 seconds under an LED lamp
120 seconds under a UV lamp
Step 4: Apply SLEEK™
- Apply a base coat
Apply a thin base coat to the prepared nail plate. Use the The Gel Expert Fine Liner 10 mm brush and guide SLEEK™ along the cuticles and side edges. This helps spread the next drop.
- Apply a base coat
Apply a medium-sized drop to the nail. Spread the product evenly from side to side and gently pull it away from the cuticle to 2/3 of the nail. Avoid product buildup at the free edge. Use the 10 mm Fine Liner brush again to neatly guide SLEEK™ along the cuticles, side edges, and toward the free edge.
- Leveling the product
Rotate your hand for a few seconds to allow the product to flow smoothly. This creates a natural curve (apex) on the nail. Check to make sure SLEEK™ has the desired curve.
- Curing
Cure the product:
90 seconds under an LED lamp
180 seconds under a UV lamp
- Work nail by nail
Build up and harden one nail at a time, alternating between hands. This prevents the product from running into the cuticles or toward the sides of the nails.
Step 5: Finishing the Nail
- Remove the tacky layer
Use 70% alcohol and a nail wipe to remove the tacky layer.
- Refine the nail shape
File the nail with a 240-grit file to prevent cracking or breaking and to create a smooth shape.
- Buff the nail
Buff the nail into shape using a 100/180-grit buffer, paying special attention to the area around the cuticle and the free edge.
- Remove dust particles
Use a dust brush along with 70% alcohol to remove dust from the nail.
Step 6: Apply the Top Coat
- Apply Top Coat
Apply a thin, even layer of your chosen The Gel Expert Top Coat.
- Curing
Cure the product:
60 seconds under an LED lamp
120 seconds under a UV lamp
- Apply cuticle oil
Apply a small amount of cuticle oil to each cuticle. Avoid contact with the nail to prevent the top coat from becoming dull.
- Color finish (optional)
