Our Story
Ashley's love for nails began at a young age. While she was studyingtax law, she started doing nails at home. Nail styling had always been her passion, but her studies took priority at the time.
In 2021, everything changed when our sonAcewas born far too early, at just26 weeksand weighing850 grams. What followed was an intense five-month period atErasmus MC, filled with surgeries and uncertainty. The hospital even made a documentary about this extraordinary time:“Hands on the Incubator.”
Because she had to care for Ace, who needed extra attention, Ashley had to put her studies on hold. Fortunately, he’s doing incredibly well now and is getting ready to start elementary school—a milestone for which we’re immensely grateful.
Entrepreneurship with Passion
Thomas opened his first ice cream shop when he was just 18. What started as a small business grew into multiple locations in the Haaglanden region. Everything is prepared with love and craftsmanship—artisanal ice cream of the highest quality—which we now also supply to other ice cream shops throughout the Netherlands.
Ever since Ace was born, Ashley has also been working at the company. That allowed us to balance work and family life well. But her passion for nail styling kept tugging at her…

With her creativity and eye for detail, Ashley decided to pursue her dream once again. That’s howThe GEL Expertcame to be—a brand born out of a love for beauty, quality, and perfection.
For over a year, we worked together to develop The Gel Expert. We tested countless formulas and designs until we found the perfect result: a product ofthe very highest quality, witha luxurious look and feel, and ata fair price.
